EXECUTIVE STAFF/BOARD OF DIRECTORS


President, David M. Sandoz, Valentine, NE, Educator, Funeral Director, Philanthropist. Mr. Sandoz is the Past President of the Nebraska Funeral Directors Association, Past President the Sandhills Area Foundation, studied at the University of Paris and was adopted and given the Indian name of Tatanka Hoksila (Buffalo Boy) by the Fool Bull Family of Old He Dog. He presently is the owner of the Sandoz Chapel of the Pines in Valentine and is the Director of Development at Sinte Gleska University in Mission, South Dakota.



Treasurer, June E. Stroup, Valentine, NE. Ms. Stroup is the Vice President of the First National Bank of Valentine. She has been a part of the the banking community for over 40 years.


Technology, Media & Marketing Director, Jim Cortez, Mission, SD.  Mr. Cortez is the only adopted son of Eli Tail, Sr., a well known and respected head-man and elder on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. Jim has lived on and off the reservation for years and currently lives on the Rosebud Sioux Indian Reservation. Jim has been running various charity groups on the reservations for many years, and was instrumental in the start up of a school in Porcupine District on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.  Jim is well-versed and experienced in all creative aspects of digital media/design and brings many years of marketing and promotion experience to the foundation.


Staff

Cheryl Madearis will lead Educational Improvement Programs. MS.Medearis has a Master’s Degree in Education, extensive knowledge of the reservation education system and her strong first hand experience will lead the foundation to the improvements in the Indian education system that will make a difference.


Albert White Hat, Chairman of Lakota Studies Department at Sinte Gleska University will lead the Cultural Preservation program. Mr. White Hat is associated with The Proctor Academy in Andover, New Hampshire, having spent 18 months as a teacher there in the past, he is now an honorary Trustee of the academy. He is a published author of an academic best seller and read all over the world. He speaks, reads and writes the Lakota language fluently.


Sandra Black Bear is in Tribal Education of the Rosebud Sioux tribe. She has taught in Lakota secondary schools and can teach and speak the Lakota language.


Blossom Jumping Eagle of Manderson, SD, on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, is a widowed parent and caregiver of six grandchildren whose volunteer involvement in the community greatly requires assistance and support to strengthen growth and recreational activities by facilitating healthy and positive programs. Ms. Jumping Eagle is a valuable hard worker dedicated to the children and the elderly of the reservation, she has strong volunteer experience with Women's and Children's Shelters. Ms. Jumping Eagle is Lakota and Navajo, she speaks the Lakota language fluently and can speak the Navajo language moderately.
